UNWANTED CRITTERS: SKUNKS, RACCOONS, ETC.
We are currently discussing ways to co-exist with the wildlife in our neighborhood. The skunk problem seems to be getting worse each summer and with the exit of the fox population, there are differing opinions on how to deal with them.
NEIGHBORHOOD PERIMETER CLEANUP
We are collecting donations to assist with the perimeter cleanup effort. The hope is to remove the weeds, trash and overgrown trees so that our entrances are more inviting to our friends and family. If you would like to assist in this effort, contact us!
SNOW REMOVAL ISSUES ALONG QUEBEC STREET
As of the March 2016 HOA Board Meeting, there still is no resolution on whether the City is going to be responsible for clearing the sidewalk along Quebec Street after a snow storm or whether the neighbors will be responsible. We are still trying to figure out who has been clearing it in the past and why not only have they stopped clearing it, but why the homeowners are getting fined for it now. More to come...
We are in the process of acquiring signs marking the entrance to the neighborhood from the City. The green and white signs are the same signs that can be seen all around Denver. Ours will say “Welcome to Winston Downs. Please drive safely.”
UPDATE: The city has denied our request for installing signs but the have given us permission to print our own and utilized their infrastructure. We are currently discussing whether it would be better to begin saving for a more permanent brick/stone monument sign or just get metal signs.
ALAMEDA PARKWAY IRRIGATION CONCERNS
This issue has been resolved thanks to the efforts of the WDHOA, the neighbors, and Councilwoman Mary Beth Susman. Irrigation repairs on our side of Alameda were completed in Spring 2012.
